Moving Into Fall

Update On the Trinity Radio Club

Radio Club treasure

Greetings from the Trinity Radio Club!

We hope your summer has been wonderful. Now that fall is upon us, we thought it would be a good time to give you an update as to what we’ve been up to.  Your Radio Club has been busy!

Under the leadership of Becky Spitzack, a great crew of people volunteered a Saturday morning to go out and clean up our section of Interstate 35. They found 12 huge bags of garbage, and I was told they even had more thrown out to them as people drove by (not real nice if you ask me)! It’s a great way to show our support for the community and our world and we want to thank Becky and her awesome crew of Mike Young, Jim Boldt, LeAnn Fuchs and Edward Morison for going and doing that.

THANK YOU to our wonderful congregation, radio listeners and live stream viewers! We have paid off our 2018-2019 radio broadcast. The total for the year (52 weekly Sunday morning services and 13 special services – Advent and Lent) was $10,725. Our contract runs each year from October 1 through September 30 of the next year. KDHL has graciously not increased our broadcast fees in over 5 years. We are set for the coming year on the radio. We have also paid off our Streaming Service fees for the coming year. That renews each July and costs us nearly $900 for the year.

New Equipment

We would like to work on replacing some of our hardware that is getting pretty old and showing their age.

Our cameras we have in the front of the church (one over the lectern and one over the pulpit) have been in place since 2004 and 2002 respectively. They are starting to degrade in quality to the point it is difficult to focus them correctly now. Replacement cameras would cost about $2,600 each for high-definition remotely operated cameras. We’d also like to add a fourth camera in the back of the church. That one would cost another $2,600.

Our computer system in the radio room that manages our video production is also getting rather old. We bought this system in February of 2014. While it still works okay, it is starting to slow down and show its age. Also, the vendor does not provide any updates to the system any longer. We’d like to get something that is newer and also handles newer equipment. The cost of the new computer system would be $6,000. We’d also need to get a new monitor (about $400) and would need some new cabling for the new cameras (about $300).

All total, our updated video system would cost us just under $15,000. We would love to have sponsors for this new equipment. Maybe you or your family would be willing to sponsor the purchase of a camera or the computer? We would appreciate any help you could give in this endeavor. We’d like to see if it is possible to update our system this coming spring. We would be able to sell our old computer system to help offset some of the cost. Estimated value is about $600 or so.

Reaching the World

The new equipment would help us provide more professional looking broadcasts. We’d also be able to start providing podcasts of just our sermons for those who do not want to watch an entire service. There is a lot of new capability we could take advantage of to help spread God’s great Word to the world (and YES, we are spreading it throughout the world!!).

We also need people! Yes, people! You too can help us out! We need people to work the 5:30 pm service on Saturday. Maybe you come to the 10:30 service on Sunday? We would love to broadcast each of our services over the weekend. But that takes folks like you. It’s easy!! If you can point and click a mouse, you’re there!

We are SO thankful for all of your support over the past 70 years. As we move forward into the next 70 years, we hope to continue to expand our outreach efforts. Your prayers and gifts will allow us to do that. As always, if you have any issues, please feel free to contact me at todd@trinityradioandvideo.org or 507-291-1306. Thanks and have a great Fall!!!
